It’s the words that no one wants to hear. You have cancer. It feels life changing, just three little words. That was the reality for Stacy on January 30th when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Unfortunately, they don’t hand you a book of “what to do next” when you hear those three little words. It takes weeks of further doctors’ appointments and meeting with nurses and social workers to figure out the next steps.

For Stacy, this will mean surgery on March 7 to remove the cancer followed by weeks of radiation. She will be reassessed for further treatment as needed. Unfortunately, due to multiple weekly medical appointments and treatments, Stacy may not be able to work much, if at all, during this period. Financial resources through benefits have been exhausted and are limited.

Stacy is one of the strongest people I know and she needs to focus on her health during the 9 weeks she will need off of work. She shouldn’t feel the burden of trying to figure out how to cover expenses during this time. I know through the years she has helped so many people who needed it, and I’m hoping her village takes care of her now.
