Hi, my name is Maeghan Kirk and my husband is Gavin and we are the proud parents of a beautiful daughter, Abigaille who will be one August 10th! Gavin was born with a genetic condition called Aniridia, a condition where individuals lack an iris, the colored part of the eye surrounding the pupil. This absence can lead to reduced vision, light sensitivity, and other eye problems. Gavin is one of the most strongest positive individuals I know. He is the most amazing father and the most amazing husband. Gavin is legally blind, and you wouldn’t even know it, he doesn’t let anything get in the way of his goals and dreams.
For the last 4 years we have been back and forth from London and Toronto hoping and praying for an answer that will prolong any vision he has left, we finally got our miracle, a stem cell transplant. We traveled to Toronto in June and after many appointments with the hopes of having his stem cell transplant, we left Toronto heartbroken; they could not find a match and the surgery was canceled and we went home. On August 12th we will pick up and head to Toronto once again with very high hopes. Meaning we will relocate to Toronto for 20 days. Unfortunately there is zero government funding to help us and with me being on maternity leave it has been tight. We will need to pay for accommodations, transportation, medication fees, and food. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated and your help only helps Gavin and I so he can continue to watch his little girl grow up! Thank you so much.
I have attached a link for more information on my husbands genetic condition
Thanks again with warm smiles
