In December of 2024, we were told that Chappelle's position would no longer be salaried or benefited. Which meant that he and Gavin would not have any medical insurance. While it was a hard hit, we moved quickly and got Gavin switched over to my plan. Though more expensive, he was still able to have what was needed to carry on.

In March of 2025, I was told that my position unfortunately had the same fate. With this news, now no one in our household will have insurance in a few short weeks. This Go fund me is for GAVIN and only GAVIN. No insurance means more than just skipping a doctor's visit. For a gtube dependent child, it means the difference between being able to afford all of their supplies, bags, medically prescribed formula, and maintenance supplies. It means having to pay out of pocket for the pump that feeds him that we rent monthly through insurance. It means the same for his required medical grade suction and in home feeding and breathing items as well. Without insurance, PT and OT cease immediately. The very thing that he needs to continue to learn and grow and develop. Most importantly, it means that 7 different daily required brain and epilepsy stabilizing medications now have to be paid out of pocket somwhow until new jobs and / or additional insurance can be acquired. It's praying extra hard for no ER visits and living in a bubble just for a bit to keep him as well as possible. It's gut-wrenching.

These funds will allow us to do all that we can in the next few months to sustain all that Gavin requires with all that we have, and with all that we are able to raise. Medicaid is a process, and we have been denied numerous times, but we still believe. To know us is to know that we work hard for ourselves and others and we know that with every blow dealt things will still be alright.
