Gavin Short, a wildland firefighter in Kern County, suffered a severe hunting accident on Friday October 6. His injuries prompted an immediate life flight to Kern Medical Trauma Center. Upon arrival, he underwent numerous tests before being transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center.

While at Loma Linda, he has received surgery and is being monitored. Gavin and his medical team are currently planning the next steps of his recovery. Financial burdens are growing, as Gavin will undoubtably need many further surgeries and treatments. His strength and positive personality are serving him well through this.
