Gavin Lambert's Rehabilitation
Donation protected
In June of this year one of the most cared for and loved people suffered from a very serious and unexpected illness.
Gavin Lambert was going about his everyday life and after a routine workout he felt dizzy and his vision went blurry.
Taking a seat to compose himself, not thinking much of it he managed to drive himself home, thinking like all of us, all he needed was a good nights rest.
Little did Gavin know, he had a bleed on the brain.
Waking that morning, feeling a little strange Gavin took 2 pain killers, got the family ready for the day and went to work.
As the day went on, Gavin's eye sight took a slight turn and he began to see red lines and with that he called 111 and was told to take himself to the hospital. After a CT scan revealed Gavin had suffered a bleed on the brain, he was admitted to hospital to undergo further tests to see if doctors could stop the bleeding.
Further tests revealed Gavin had suffered a stroke caused by abnormal blood vessels in brain (arteriovenous malformation). To make matters worse, scans further highlighted an aneurism on the blood vessels which left Gavin and his family with a tough decision to make; undergo radiotherapy over a period of years to target the vessels but carry the risk the aneurism could rupture in that time OR undergo emergency surgery to remove the cells and aneurism which also carries serious risks.
After discussing with his wife and children the decision was made to have emergency surgery. Less than 48 hours later Gavin was to have the surgery however in the night prior Gavin’s condition deteriorated and he had a seizure followed by a second bleed on the brain.
Doctors proceeded with the surgery but Gavin was left in an induced coma with family and friends worried he would never wake up.
BUT, the fighter that he is, Gavin did wake up (with heavy scarring and less hair) and has continued day by day to build his speech, strength and desire to get home to his family and friends!
Gavin remains in hospital continuing to make progress but with a long road of recovery ahead.
The toll this has taken on not only Gavin but his wife, children and those who love him is heart-breaking….. this page is to raise money for Gavin to help with his continued rehabilitation in time to come
Any Donations would truly make a difference.
Together we can all support Gavin in a way that will help him most.
