Gavin Johnson’s Below the Knee Amputation

My name is Sara Morrison and I am raising money for one of the kindest, most generous and caring families ever, The Johnson Family. They are dealing with the unimaginable, the loss of their 17 year old son’s leg.

Gavin, at 16 yrs old, suffered a catastrophic sports injury last October playing soccer. After 10 surgeries, compartment syndrome, severe nerve and muscle damage, months in the hospital, rehab/therapies, his parents trying everything they could do to keep his leg… sadly Gavin’s leg will be amputated below the knee next week. This has been life changing, both physically and mentally. The family has had many challenges this past year and this upcoming chapter has new obstacles they will need to overcome. Prosthetics are very expensive, insurance only covers 1 (minimal movement walking) leg every 3 years. Gavin is a great young man, kind, fun to be around and he is an athlete- loves all sports, running, swimming, cycling and just started to play golf. His out of pocket expenses in the next 90 days will be $100,000 for multiple prosthetics, pain/trauma/rehab therapy and travel to/from AZ to TX every few weeks. The next 6 months will be around $150,000, with new out of pocket medical deductibles/coinsurance and more travel to TX through April 2024. Thank you for your support!!!
