Gavin Rakesh D’mello is the youngest and only immigrant from his family who moved to canada so that he could support his family. He lost his mom late last year and hasn’t been able to make it back to India to visit her grave. His heart was filled with so much emotion that 8 months later, on the afternoon of June 23rd Gavin did not wake up from his sleep. He suffered a cardiac arrest and his heart stopped beating on and off for an hour. He was admitted to emerg and is now in the ICU. He has been working hard to become a permanent residence of our country, pulling unbelievable hours at multiple jobs in order to stay here. His medical bill is going to be sky high and he has no way of paying off the bills. We do not know yet if he will pull through but we wanted to start this gofundme to help his family to cover the costs and when he wakes up he can focus on his recovery with no added stress. Anything at all would mean a lot, I know it’s tough times for a lot of people but even 5$ would help.

I met Gavin when he was 24, he is now 27, and in just three short, but long years, he has become one of my closest friends, like an older brother that God blessed me with. Gavin is a warm, kind hearted, and empathetic guy who will love and accept anybody no matter who they are. He is someone who you can always count on to make you laugh, and is the kind of person to throw compliments to anyone to always make them feel like a million bucks. To be around Gavin is to have a full belly, even if it means he has to share his food. To know Gavin is to love him, I’ve never seen him meet new people and not make a lasting good impression. He’s someone who takes the time to give everyone some quirky nickname based on his experience with them.
