With the permission of Greg's daughters, Michelle and Christine, we are setting up this account to help the Gauvain family rebuild their house and their lives.  Greg and Mac's house caught fire in the early morning hours of March 15, 2019.  Greg was asleep but quickly got up to try to contain the fire before the fire department arrived.  Mac was able to get out of the house with minor injuries, however, Greg passed away in the house. Greg's heroic measures describe him to a tee; he died doing what he did his entire life - making sure everyone and everything was taken care of.  Mac, Michelle, and Christine are monumentally devastated and trying to come to terms with the whole situation; they will miss Greg beyond words. They will keep his spirit alive by remembering his larger than life sense of humor, willingness to help anyone, indescribable patience, unwavering unconditional love, his warm heart, his dedication to “his” teams (NY Giants and NY Yankees), his giving nature, and his ability to always see the best in everyone. Greg really loved his family and really was a best friend to his grandchildren – who he made laugh until their bellies hurt.  

Mac was released from the hospital on March 24, 2019, and is now in a skilled nursing/rehab facility to start the next chapter in her recovery and in her life.  She has a long road ahead of her and it will certainly be tougher now that Greg is not there by her side.  There were only a handful of clothing items that were taken by a restoration company to clean but the vast majority of their household items were destroyed by the fire.  The house is uninhabitable and will need to be torn down and rebuilt.  

We believe that one of the greatest gifts is to pay it forward, especially to a family that has experienced such a horrific tragedy. The Gauvain family needs our help... even a little will go a long way.
