Gatsby the Great Medical Fund

Many of you know Gatsby, otherwise known as Gatsby the Great, Fatsby, Mayor McCheese, Cheebo, or Shmeeb. He’s one of the first puggles to arrive on the scene, even before puggles were popular, and he’s been making people laugh and lighting up the room in the Bay Area for all of his life.

On June 20th, just a few weeks shy of his 15th birthday, Gatsby was hit by a car while chasing a kitty. He’s always been afraid of cats, so it was a complete surprise, and as you can imagine we are devastated. He is stable, but there are complications that are keeping him hospitalized for at least another day, and it is unknown if he will get to come home tomorrow. He is currently on a pretty heavy dose of pain medication and is having some trouble breathing, and we are still uncertain if he will fully regain the use of his back legs. But the amazing doctors at Berkeley Dog and Cat Hospital are keeping him stable, pain-free, and are taking great care of him. We have a long road ahead of us, but currently, we have no idea what that may mean. The doctor has called it the “Rx of time”, meaning… we just have to wait and see.

I do not like doing this, but at this point the bills are over $3000, and they are only rising. We know Gatsby has touched the hearts of many, and he has a lot of friends. I know a lot of people are having hard times right now, so any little bit will help.
