Gatorloop at UF
WE ARE GATORLOOP!
We are the University of Florida team competing in SpaceX's open innovation competition to design the pod for the Hyperloop: the future of green travel. We have been selected as one of 22 teams to move forward to the final stage of the Hyperloop Design Competition. This is AMAZING NEWS and we are so excited, but it means we need funding now more than ever to complete our pod. We have to optimize, purchase, and manufacture a 15.5 foot pod before January 2017. Donate now, and help us Break a Pod!
What is Hyperloop?
The Hyperloop system at its core is a new form of high -speed public transportation. Combining the speed of a jet plane, the convenience of a train, and natural energy from the Sun, the Hyperloop is in a class all on its own.
The brainchild of multi-millionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk the Hyperloop was destined to come to fruition, but it needed help. That’s where the Hyperloop Pod Design Competition and our team comes in. Space Exploration Technologies decided to host a competition for engineering teams and students to design and develop some of the Hyperloop’s essential systems. This presented a unique opportunity for students and allowed for the Hyperloop System to develop into something global. More information can be found at www.spacex.com/hyperloop
WHO WE ARE
Having roots at the University of Florida, we are a team of both undergraduate and graduate students with a passion for innovation. We have members in almost every discipline of engineering, including Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Computer, and Materials (plus one Marketing & Entrepreneurship student!). Our team has a diverse skill set and a drive to create new and exciting technologies.
To date, we have acquired support and resources from various organizations, international and local alike. A few of our supporting organizations are listed below.
Located in the Sunshine State, we have a passion for clean, renewable energy. We love the environment and we love innovative technologies. With the Hyperloop Project we are able to pursue both, exploring emergent technologies which could eventually help save the environment. We have students ranging from undergraduate sophomores to talented graduate students, all dedicated and resourceful enough to make this project happen.
