Gatlin Jensen-Prayers & Support Needed

Donation protected
Hi my name is Lori Copeland-Berns and I'm fundraising for my Niece, Morgan Jensen and her beautiful family. On Saturday, June 3rd, their son, Gatlin (who will be 4 years old this month) somehow snuck into the pool and was found a few minutes later unresponsive. Morgan (ER Nurse with Mercy Hospital) started CPR rescue breathing right away and soon EMS arrived and secured an airway. They intubated him right away. Our little Gatlin was Med Flighted from Beloit ED to Madison Childrens Hospital where he has been fighting hard to recover. He is progressing each day, but they still have a long road of recovery ahead. I'm reaching out to you all, in hopes of helping Morgan and Joel with their medical bills, loss of wages (they have been by Gatlins side 24/7) gas costs and every day bills. They are the Most loving and caring parents, and have so much love for their growing family! I am including some posts from Morgan, where she has been udating us every day. If you are able to contribute, our family would greatly appreciate it! We will take all the prayers we can get too for Gatlins recovery. Your life can change in a second (it don't matter if you are the BEST parents in the world, your whole world can change)...and I'm so grateful that Morgan jumped into Nurse mode and got her baby boys pulse back that day! God and many beautiful Angels have been watching over Gatlin...now we need to continue praying and get our little Spider Man back to his spunky self! Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers!!!! I love you Mostest!!!! Here are Morgans Daily updates: Post from June 3rd Saturday afternoon Gatlin somehow snuck into the pool and was found a few minutes later. We started CPR and rescue breathing right away and soon EMS arrived and secured an airway. We were flighted up to UW Children’s hospital from Beloit ED. The next 48 hours are critical. He has ARDS. Positives are his labs are continuing to improve, he is showing purposeful movement and ECHO looks good. He is hooked up to EEG and no signs of seizure activity to this point. He is also initiating his own breaths. Neurology is very happy with his responsiveness. He will open his eyes a if you call his name and squeeze our hand when asked. We have a long road ahead. I am in shock and don’t know how this happened. Please pray for my tough and loving little boy. June 5th…. Update on Gatlin, He is making progress but trying to wean him off any sedation has been very difficult. When they try he seems to clamp down and drop his pressures and oxygen. It’s so hard seeing him seem panicked when he wakes. BUT he is here and is showing good signs overall. The plan is to try and get his breathing tube out today initially but I think it’s going to be a long difficult road to get there, and I want him to be safe so it might be another day. His glucose has fallen a couple times so he has gotten some replacement for that and some electrolytes, but all that is to be expected. His ABGs (showing his oxygenation and critical functions) have been pretty normal and they are now backing them up to every 4 hrs. Haven’t heard about latest XR but we do know he has ARDS so it will take time. Continue to pray! We’re having flashbacks of seeing out boy lifeless and blue, I wouldn’t wish this on anyone, but we will fight with him and for him! June 6th Newest update! Gatlin’s labs look great, doctor says looks like no organ damage was done, which is remarkable considering cardiac arrest. We are trying to pull the extra fluid off of him that he’s put on since admission. We are doing lots of trials and tests to see if we can get him off the vent today! Things are looking very positive, and we are so incredibly grateful to have him here with us! Long road ahead still but I have so much more hope and faith! June 15th, 2023 UPDATE ON OUR LITTLE SPIDER MAN....from Morgan Tremendous steps forward for Gatlin today! He passed his swallow study and can now eat and drink whatever he wants…we started with ice cream! he is going to keep the NG until tomorrow after we make sure he can take in enough fluids on his own but I don’t see that being a problem! I’m so happy I could cry! ****Gatlin still has a long road to recovery...his lungs still have healing to do....he is still on oxygen...and his parents, Morgan and Joel have been with him right by his side, hoping and praying their little boy would get through this...he's a fighter....and all of OUR PRAYERS are working!!!! Thank you all for all your prayers and donations. Each day, Gatlin surprises us with his strength and courage to get stronger and healthier each day...and get back to his fun loving self! Our family is still asking for your help in raising money for Gatlins care. He has received the BEST care from all the AMAZING Doctors and Nurses at American Family Children's Hospital in Madison, WI. So I ask, if you are able to donate so they can still be right next to him and see his progress every day, our family would be forever grateful. Thank you for all your continued prayers!
Thank you again for helping them get through this and be able to be by him the whole time! God Is GREAT!!!! UPDATE: June 18th Gatlin came home!!!! He is improving every day, but still needs to be monitored closely…. thank goodness his Mommy is a ER Nurse. We are still asking for any donations you can give, so Morgan can be right by his side at home. Our little Spider Man was so excited to see his sisters, Berkley and Ce Ce and of course his Bumpa Steve!!!! My heart is so happy!!!! Thank you so much for all your continued prayers and donations. Our family can’t thank you enough. I know we will pay it forward in the future. Thank you so much!!!! Have a beautiful day!!!! I love you all…Mostest!!!! Xoxo
