Gathering Thyme: Keep Herbalism Alive

As community herbalists, we see firsthand the woven layers of crisis, trauma and inspired action that is working its way across our communities. From the much-needed uprising of the Black Lives Movement in response to anti-Black oppression and police brutality, set against the backdrop of a global pandemic that had already rattled us to our core, each one of us is affected in deep, life changing ways.
The recent outbreak of COVID-19 left us having to close our retail store doors to general foot traffic and cancel all of our in-person classes at the school for two months. Although we enthusiastically closed shop in an effort to flatten the curve, the disruption in supply chains, inability to source needed herbs, laying of off employees has impacted both the store & our non-profit herb school financially.
With no end in sight we need your help in order to stay open. Our store sales have dropped 60% and each month we witness a further decline. With much sadness we had to furlough our employees who feel more like family than anything else. We are needing to restructure our entire retail business by moving our store and school on-line. This takes time, energy and knowledge of the tech world and devices used. As of today, we have not received any funding from the government to help our small business. Every sale keeps our store going. Every donation is paying into the future of an herb school and herb shop in Marin County.
