Hello, I'm pianist Miki Sawada! I live in Boston, and through my Gather Hear Tour I'm traveling state-by-state with a piano in a van, with the goal of eventually reaching all 50 states. I spend a few weeks in every state, often going to very rural, very remote corners, in an attempt to get to know each state thoroughly and to provide classical music where it might not be readily available. After tours in Alaska (2017), West Virginia (2018), and Massachusetts (May 2021), I'm on to Utah for a 13-stop tour between August 29 - September 18!
Gather Hear Tour’s mission is to bring high quality live classical music to communities across socioeconomic and political boundaries. By taking classical music outside of formal concert halls - where not everyone might feel welcomed - and into community gathering spaces, Gather Hear uses music as a connective tissue that helps us find what unites us as humans.
Gather Hear concerts are always free to the public, and this is why I need your help. Money will help cover artist fees, travel costs (UHaul rental & gas), videographer fees, video editor fees, and equipment costs. We're investing more in video this time, to really level up the documentation of my epic solo musical adventure through wild Utah. Your support will help Gather Hear Tour carry on to the next state and beyond.
You may notice I'm fundraising for less $ than I have for past tours - that's because the Utah tour is presented in partnership with Salt Lake City non-profit Mundi Project , whose mission is to "actively break down socio-economic and generational barriers by providing quality music experiences for all." They've facilitated the Utah tour in so many ways, including fundraising. As such, I have a more modest fundraising goal of $5000.
Thank you for helping to spreading the joy of live classical music.
