Gaston needs cleft palate surgery
No one’s sweet as Gaston,
Or as cute as Gaston,
I’m especially good at cuddling!
Now I have your attention (and you’re humming my song), let me introduce introduce myself! I’m Gaston and I’m from Happy Tails Animal Rescue.
Happy Tails rescued my mum from North Queensland when she was pregnant and gave her a warm, safe home for her to have her puppies, including me!
I was the smallest and sickest of my litter and had to be tube fed when I was very little to avoid choking and aspirating. This is because I was born with a cleft palate, which means my mouth and lips didn’t grow properly and I have a hole in the roof of my mouth.

But with a name like Gaston, nothing will stop me!
Well maybe something... you see I desperately need surgery to close this hole and fix my cleft palate.
Having a cleft palate means I struggle with eating and breathing and I make a lot of weird noises. There were times I got very sick and Happy Tails didn’t know if they’d be able to save me, but thanks to my amazing foster family’s support taking me to the vet at all hours of the day and night, I made it through. I’m now 5 and a half months old and ready for my big operation!!
The operation will cost Happy Tails $3500.
I may also need a secondary surgery estimated at $1000.
I don’t know much about money (I can’t even count) but I know that everyone is worried about how to pay the wonderful vets who have already helped me so much. Please DONATE today to help Happy Tails get me my surgery.
Once we have raised the money, I can go into surgery, and I will keep you all updated on my progress!! For now, please check out my photos of me growing up - so can see how ridiculously handsome I am, even as a baby pup!
Once you have donated please don’t forget to share my story with your friends so they can donate too. The vets said I really need my operation in October so please DONATE and SHARE today!
Love, grunts and licks,
Gaston x
