Gaspar’s medical costs and continuing aftercare.

On Friday, April 7th, our beloved royal highness of Haight Street, Gaspar Magisa, was admitted to Kaiser ER with high blood pressure and mental confusion. After a stay in the hospital and lots of testing and monitoring it was found that he had suffered a stroke event, as well as a small bleed in his brain, which brought on the mental confusion.
After a long stay at Kaiser he has been stabilized! As of May 1, he will be staying for a few months of safe rehabilitation at a facility called Victorian Manor at 1444 Mcallister (between Scott and Pierce, near Alamo square park). Visiting hours are from 11am- 8pm. Guests are required to wear a mask, get their temperature taken, and fill out a form with covid related questions in order to enter. There is not a cap on how many visitors at a time, but if you are coming with a large group, it would be good to alert the staff in advance.
He will need some support in the coming months, to help with his hospitalization costs, as well as the after care and therapy associated with his recovery. Because he was not physically affected by the stroke, (he is only having cognitive issues with short term memory) insurance will not cover the next stage of recovery. We have adjusted our fundraising goal now that we have a clearer view on recovery timeline, and associated costs.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for the overwhelming response and support so far!!! Gaspar’s reach and the amount of people who love him is HUGE. He is so touched and grateful to see how much support he has!
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO ATTENDED THE FUNDRAISER AT HOBSON’S CHOICE ON 4/29. The event was so successful, helpful, and a lot of fun. Special thanks to Chris Dickerson for being an extra generous host, and to the bartenders that evening, Kara and Dave- we brought in so many people that night ended up being a little bit of a stress test for them that they powered through like champions. THANK YOU!
PLEASE STAY TUNED- this page will stay active as long as possible, as this is not a short road to recovery. We also plan to organize a secondary fundraiser in the mission, with drummers, dancers, etc, most likely in the summer time. As this comes together, we will post more details.
*NOTE* For those not wanting to use the go fund me platform, Gaspar does have a zelle account, which can you feel free to donate directly to. If you are also enrolled in zelle, all you need is his first and last name and phone number, and you can donate directly to his bank account. He also has venmo active and available @Gaspar-Magisa

THANK YOU ALL!
