Garza Family/Lisa Marziotto

It is with a very saddened heart that we have to face reality that the Garza family, Lisa, Mario and Matthew need our support and prayers at this time.  I am starting a go fund me on their behalf, let me tell you Mario’s journey these past 3 years.

He was diagnosed with Guillen Barres disease in September of 2014. It affects your motor skills, nervous system and muscles.  He was on a walker and cane and
physical therapy for quite some time.  Thru all this he was referred out to hematologist/ oncology for
abnormal blood work.  He was diagnosed with B Cell Lymphoma. Then while running other tests cat scans showed a large kidney mass.  Now he is diagnosed with a second cancer, malignant  renal cell cancer.  He
immediately went and had his kidney removed.  A few months later it spread to his lumbar spine.  So now he had to have spinal surgery which took 7 hours.  They were able to get most of the tumor but some residual on spine.  There is no chemo protocol per say for renal cell carcinoma stage IV .  He went on a medication that could maybe stabilize or slow down growth. That did good for a while with a several hospitalizations for side effects. 

Then this March of 2018, his MRI showed that tumor is growing.  Next option was to try immunotherapy which he has had 2 treatments.

On Monday he went to Memorial Hospital West due to low blood pressure and severe pain in back. MRI lumbar spine is showing it is growing quickly which can cause paralysis among other things.  Waiting to confer with his team to see what next step can be, Mario spent almost a week in the hospital.

Miami , the only option now is another spinal surgery to try and debulk tumor as much as possible to relieve pain and try to prevent it from causing any more spinal damage.  This will be a long recovery and rehabilitation . I wish I could say this is a cure but unfortunately this is for palliative care only, when he is out of rehab, they will try to radiate tumor. 

The most important part of this journey is the man himself. He works a 50+ week and a lot of travel time thru all of this with minimal recovery time off.  He has continued to support his family as hard as it is for him
to endure his work schedule everyday but he is the sole provider of the household. He has never really
complained and did what he had to do, to me he is a True  Warrior, Courageous and I have been a witness to it all.  So it has come time to realize he is not able to work any longer and cannot support his family and pay excessive medical bills. Please support Lisa with prayer, she will be his full time care taker.  If you can give
financially that is much appreciated , if not share a meal, make a phone call, run an errand, there are many
ways to help that shows your support and  most important please PRAY for this family because that has been what has gotten them thru till now
and will get them thru whatever challenges they still have to face.  Love and God bless you and your families with good health.
