While coming back home from a trip visiting his mother, my dad, Gary Turnbull, had a massive heart attack.
He was not only dead for forty minutes but shocked twenty-one times. He had emergency surgery to help his heart, but will need open heart surgery later on.
He was also in a medical induced coma.
Even with all of this he is still able to talk, to move his arms and legs, to know who people are, and understand so much.
Without the help of the amazing staff of BC ferries, paramedics and the Victoria hospitals, he would not be here today. So thank you to those who have help so far.
It is truly a miracle that he is alive. He does have a long recovery ahead of him, and that is where we need a helping hand.
We are hoping for $20,000 to help my dad with medical relocation, neuro-therapy, and medical equipment. This is needed over and above the out-of-pocket costs for hospital coverage and insurance
He is fighting, and so far surpassing everyone's expectations.
He wants to recover. He wants to stand and walk again, to play his banjo, dance with his daughters at their weddings, take his wife to Italy one day, and so much more.

My family are asking for help to complete this miracle, and that others would have the faith, love and fight that my father has. He has always been "that guy", the one who steps in and steps up to help everyone else. This time he needs help.
This is a long and expensive road to recovery and anything you can do to help make that possible is the most amazing gift anyone could give.
It would be a blessing to have others fighting with us and not let money take this miracle away from him.
So please help us with giving anything you can, and sharing to spread the word.
Thank you for anything you can do, that includes all the prayers and good thoughts.
