Gary’s Journey to Happy and Healthy

Hey Guys, my name is Heather and this is my sweet boy Gary! He is one of my wonderful pets, and one of the sweetest. The last few months have been tough for him. Starting with a hurt paw about 6 weeks ago. I took him to the vet and there was no break. Whew. A week later he’s still limping. I took him in again and they gave him a shot (Solensia) which worked wonders!

Earlier this week he jumped/fell off the counter after eating and cried for awhile…. Then after two days I realized he was not eating. He looked lethargic…. Immediately to the urgent care.

I learned he’s positive for FIV. Totally livable virus. They then threw a ton of medical info at me in which they believe he has IHMA, an auto immune disease that attack red blood cells. After research and how cats can be… idk if it’s forever, underlying issue, from FIV IDK!

I was given my options and I took giving him steroids twice a day and antibiotics to possibly get over the hump of severe anemia… he is not any worse and in my opinion doing better! We have a long road ahead and not quite out of the woods.

I believe he can pull through and live a healthy beautiful life. With all of this, the veterinarian bills have really been a set back. I am not sure of the exact road ahead but I know many people care for this sweet boy and he deserves a chance to thrive.

I thank you for reading this and any help is greatly appreciated. Just a quick thought or prayer for him, advice/experience with kitty sickness/diseases, tips or tricks for water and meds intake.
