Gary's battle against Hypopharyngeal cancer

On November 11th, 2022 my father, Gary Robinson, went to the local Emergency Department due to feeling unwell and was under the assumption of having bronchitis. After some scans, the physician notified him that he had a mass in his throat and also had cancer. He was immediately life-flighted to Danville. Once life flighted to Danville, they took him back to surgery to place an emergency tracheotomy to help with his labored breathing.

Gary has been off work since 6/2021, when he had a work-related injury working in the construction business, lifting and replacing extremely heavy pipes/valves. Once the back injury had occurred came various doctors' appointments such as pain management, physical therapy, and primary care appointments throughout Pennsylvania.

Shortly after, Gary was experiencing left leg pain. After missing diagnoses and a couple of weeks later, it was found that Gary needed emergency surgery on his left leg due to a blood clot. He would have required his left lower leg to be amputated if left untreated. After seeing a Vascular surgeon 11/2021, doctors gave Gary the bad news that he would now have permanent nerve damage and scheduled his surgery for 12/10/21.

Fast forward to 11/22/22, Gary had followed up with the Otolaryngologist in Danville. The Physician had confirmed that he has stage IV Hypopharyngeal cancer. Gary will need surgery within the next couple of weeks (still waiting for the surgery date). The surgery entails removing the mass currently in his throat and his voice box. Once the surgery has been completed, he will need to go through aggressive Chemotherapy and Radiation.

Due to all the above-explained circumstances, Gary has been off work since June 2021. He is currently in the process of applying for disability, with the possibility of not being approved. Unfortunately, this will not cover many of the foreseeable medical expenses. Contributions will go toward medical bills, food, and everyday necessities that come with the loss of his income.
