Gary James Bailey Memorial Fund
Donation protected
So many wonderful people have asked how they can help while we are going through the devastating loss of Gary Bailey, we would like to ask for help in planning a celebration of his life with the love and support of our family and friends.
We are planning to have a memorial celebration for my father, Gary James Bailey loving husband, father, stepfather, Papa, and friend who passed away on May 3rd 2015, at the young age of 63, after battling heart disease for nearly half of his life. Gary selflessly donated his body so that others could benefit from his organs and skin and the remainder is to be used in research. He expressed to his family members that he did not want a funeral but a celebration of life. After his body has been used in research, his remains will be cremated and the Navy will scatter him at sea, with notification to his wife, my mother, Judy. Gary did not want anyone to be upset or sad that he was gone. We are planning on celebrating Gary and all of the love and laughter that he shared with his family and friends. Gary served with the Navy during the Vietnam crisis and was an over the road truck driver for the rest of his life until becoming disabled due to diabetes and heart disease in 1997. Gary is survived by his Mother Barbara Bailey, his wife Judy Bailey, his brothers Doug and Bruce Bailey, his sister Jeanne (Bailey) Daye and his four children: Cathy Carlson, Chris Carlson, Kristina (Bailey) Cumberbatch and Albert Bailey, and his 14 grandchildren: Kayla, Vincent, Peter, Ben, Sam, Adam, Caleb, Kanye, Cohen, Anastasia, Nikolas, Colin, Cameron, and Carter. He enjoyed camping, fishing, playing cards, campfires, BBQing, snowmobiling, beer, and good jokes. He truly was an amazing person that could talk to anyone and make them laugh.
Unfortunately, because of his failing health, my parents lived on social security disability, and could not obtain life insurance that would cover any sort of funeral or memorial service expenses. So that is why we are asking our friends and family members for help to raise funds for the Memorial Celebration that we will hold for him at the Kanakadea Park in Hornell, NY in July. The monies we raise will pay for food, entertainment, memorial service, and keepsakes with the remainder, as requested by my mother, going as donation to the Alfred Station Fire Hall as thanks for their outstanding service. We would love to make this the biggest celebration we can to make Gary proud that we are still living and he will always be in our hearts. And you know he would love to go out with a party!!
