***UPDATE***
It’s a bittersweet day today for my family. My dad left this life and took his first steps on the golden streets of Heaven at 8:03am this morning (8/19/20). I know that he has been reunited with our loved ones and we will see him again one day.

I don’t understand why his time was now but I know he fought to stay with us an extra 10 days after his accident and we were so blessed to hear him say he loved each of us.

I could never ask for a better life than the one he provided us. He was a loving father to us kids, a devoted partner to my mom and a friend who would do anything. I will never forget the lessons of kindness, charity and responsibility that he taught me. I am my fathers’ daughter and I am so proud of how he lived his life. There is no doubt in my heart where he is today and I know he’s watching us and protecting us from above.

Our GoFundMe donations will be used for medical expenses from my dads' care for 10 days, the memorial services, lawyer fees and helping my mom get through this time without having to worry about making ends meet while she is away from work.

We want to thank all of you for your donations, your prayers and support through this time of unknown.

***ORIGINAL***
On Sunday August 9, 2020 my dad, Gary Yarberry, was in a severe motorcycle accident. He was on his way to church to preach when a driver, whom we believe was under the influence, hit my dad from behind. My dad and his bike wrecked for 400 feet. He was wearing his helmet like he always does but was in his dress clothes instead of the gear he normally rides in. At the initial impact my dad was wearing his helmet but it was ripped from his head as he continued to slide across the pavement. His helmet was found still tightly cinched. He hit his head on the front and the back and has 2 brain bleeds on each side, a broken left clavicle, bruised lung, road rash and possibly a broken nose. The driver attempted to leave but was stopped by my dads' saddlebag that was wedged underneath his front tire. A passerby on the beach heard the crash and rushed over to assist in stopping the driver from leaving and tending to my dad while help was called.

As of now, the doctors believe he will be in the hospital for at least a month as they monitor the bleeds and swelling in his brain. He is a retired veteran and my parents are on a fixed income. My mom was still working before this happened but I do not believe she will be able to work once my dad is able to come home.

Our biggest task right now is to pray for my dads' mind, body and spirit to be healed. We understand we are facing great financial difficulty and we are unsure what type of care he will need in the future. The doctors are telling us it's too early to tell which way things will go.

We are asking for donations to help my mom with future medical bills, rehabilitation therapies that will be necessary for the best recovery possible and our future lawyer fees. Every single penny will help us as we navigate through this incredibly difficult time.

Please share my dads' story, wear your helmets and watch out for motorcycles.
