Gary Wiley, Sr's Annual Memorial Scholarship Fund

Donation protected
In memory of our beloved Gary Wiley, Sr., his family has chosen to keep his memory alive in the form of giving to someone else. Gary was a selfless person with a constant willingness to help others. We want to continue that legacy in his honor and memory.

Gary was a graduate of the Class of 1985 at Oakwood High School, where he excelled in basketball and football. He attended Navarro College after graduation. Shortly thereafter, Gary worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a Corrections Officer from 1988-1990. In 1991, he joined the United States Navy and sailed the USS Seattle from 1991-1995. Gary fought during the Desert Storm War. He was honorably discharged in 1995. After that, Gary became employed with Union Pacific Railroad as a Conductor from 1996-2002. Gary parted ways with Union Pacific to pursue his goals as a business owner. After investing in a lot of moving and farm equipment, Gary started his own business logging and moving homes.

Of all the places in the world Gary was able to see and live while in the military, including beautiful oceans, exotic landscapes, and tropical climates, Oakwood, Texas was always his pride and joy! That is why we chose Oakwood High School as the recipient of this scholarship. As of last year, we gave our very first Gary Wiley Sr. Memorial Scholarship Fund to a proud graduating senior of Oakwood High School in the amount of $1,500.00. Our goal is to make this an annual scholarship fund that increases in the number of recipients and the amount of the award. We will increase our fundraising efforts starting this year to host events throughout the year to make that a reality. This is our first fundraiser event. Last year's scholarship was solely funded by family, and we aspire to grow this beyond our imagination. So we thank you in advance for any contribution. There is nothing too small and certainly nothing too big!
