Hi, my name is Dashaun Dunn and on the behalf of my family, I'm raising money for the aftermath of a family tragedy that occurred on July 4th, 2021.

For those who may not have heard by now, my brother Dejuan Dunn was shot and killed on July 4th, 2021. He was loved and will be missed dearly. Losing Dejuan is hard enough, but this tragedy has a second layer to it that makes it even harder to accept.

My youngest brother Gary has been dealing with mental health issues for several months. We made several attempts to get him mental health support to no avail. We as a family feel like the mental health system failed my brothers and family.

Gary has always been a kind, respectful, and loving person. We as a family know that Gary would never do anything to intentionally hurt anyone. Unfortunately, Gary’s mental health issues led to the tragic death of my brother Dejuan.

We as a family are doing everything we can to support Gary during this difficult time and we ask our family, friends, and others to do the same. If you knew anything about Gary, you know he would have never done anything like this in his right state of mind.

I want everyone to know that Gary is a kind-hearted individual and that he is also hurting from this tragic event. I appreciate all the support, prayers, positive energy, and love everyone is sending to our family at this time.

It is clear to most people that the mental health issues led to this tragedy, however, the criminal justice system does not always see it as clearly. Gary is now fighting another system that wants to put him in prison after the mental health system failed him and our family initially.

We as a family and community cannot let this happen to Gary. Gary is now in need of our support and needs legal support. We are attempting to raise $75,000 to cover the legal fees that will cover the cost of his legal defense to help him get the proper mental health care he needs.

The funds donated to this cause will be used to provide Gary with the following; Legal fees, private doctors for expert evaluations cost between $50,000 upwards to $100,000.
