Gary Strarup

Hi I'm Gary's sister as most of you know. Gary had a stroke in June 2021.  He was in the hospital and rehab hospital for several weeks. He has done out patient rehab as well. He's doing much better but has lost the ability to drive. His balance, speech and memory change from day to day. As of last week, he has moved to El Campo with my other brother. He didn't want to move because he had two elderly ladies he actually used to walk with before his stroke. They would offer to take him to grocery store, etc. Now he feels like a prisoner where he can't go anywhere. He has a walker but he's not stable enough to walk very far.

• He desperately needs an electric trike so he can have some sense of freedom back.

ALSO, since he was moved to El Campo,  he can't find a place in this county that will continue with his therapy.  So far Mid Coast Medical Clinic, the Hospital and the rehab in El Campo will not accept him as a patient.  What is wrong with this picture.   What is one to do that is need of medical care?  None here will take his insurance!   He is diabetic as well.   He used to weigh 285 lbs, he's 6ft 5' and now weighs 180 lbs.
