Gary Rottmann is a husband and a father to two darling little boys. On November 20th, after suffering a seizure, a tumor was discovered on the right frontal lobe of his brain. Gary underwent surgery shortly after the diagnosis and the team of doctors at University of Utah removed what they could. Yesterday, they were hit with the devastating news that the tumor is cancerous. This young family will soon have mounting medical bills related to this heartbreaking situation. As friends, family, and colleagues of Gary's and Karissa's, let's do what we can to help them. Any of you who know Gary and Karissa know that they would be the first ones to step up and help anyone else going through a difficult time. You can donate money here or Venmo your donation directly to Gary. @Gary-Rottmann

On Sunday morning at around 3:30 am I was awoken by a loud crash. I scrambled from the bed and found Gary seizing on our bathroom floor. I immediately called the paramedics and they promptly came and took him to ...Davis Hospital, where they did a CT scan and found a mass in his right temporal lobe. They transferred him via ambulance to the University of Utah NCCU. At the U, they did an MRI to gather better images of what was going on. They determined it was a brain tumor. He underwent surgery this morning and the surgeon said everything went well. They removed as much of the tumor as they safely could. He will have another MRI tomorrow to compare. A sample was sent to pathology to find out what this was. We probably won’t find that out until Friday. All things considering, he is doing well. We appreciate any thoughts, prayers, positive vibes, etc. you can provide us during this difficult and unexpected time.

Ok, Facebook friends and family. Today I found out what we have been anticipating. The tumor they removed from my right temporal lobe is cancerous and a grade 3 tumor out of 4. We have one more genetic lab result coming back soon to determine if it’ll be downgraded to a grade 2 and if it’ll alter how we fight this. I start seeing the oncologist next Tuesday. I want to thank everyone for the love and support you’ve shown me and my family during this hard time. We are going to fight this with everything we’ve got. I love you all and please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you just want to chat.
