I am Lindsay Wessels starting this fundraiser for my dad Gary Ravnaas(married to the late Judy Ravnaas). Cancer has struck our family again and this time it’s my dad. I took him to the ER on Sunday with severe upper right quadrant pain. What was suspected to be his gallbladder which has multiple stones in it, it turned out to also be cancer in the liver. Dad saw the oncologist yesterday and he feels the cancer started somewhere else in n the body and spread to the liver. He will go to Grand Forks for a Pet Scan next week to see where the cancer is coming from and how far it has spread. Dad lives on a one person income and is going to be traveling numerous times for medical appointments out of town and chemotherapy treatments weekly. My dad has been a public servant in his community for 50 years this year with the Rolla Volunteer Fire Department. He has given a lot of his time to our community and surrounding communities. Update on my dad. He had a liver biopsy this morning. He is now in the PACU. He will go to recovery where they will watch him for a few hours. From there he will go and have the PET scan and see the oncologist after the PET scan.
