In 2000, Gary Ralston underwent brain surgery to remove a benign tumor. He recovered well from this surgery and was able to continue with his life with minor restrictions.
In 2016, Gary began experiencing some cognitive deficits. The doctors began what has turned out to be 3 years of testing along with minor procedures.
In 2018, it was thought that a small amount of tumor not removed in the 2000 surgery had ruptured and that pieces of this tumor were now landing on various parts of his brain.
In December 2019, Gary underwent another brain surgery to remove some of these tumors in hopes of stopping if not reversing the cognitive deficits which are making it impossible for him to continue working. Unfortunately, the masses removed could not be identified and the cognitive deficits remain. There is currently no diagnosis or treatment plan, and the testing continues. The doctors do not know if the cognitive deficits will cease, or if they can be reversed.
Gary remains out of work. He has always worked in non-physical jobs due to physical limitations in his low back and left knee.
He along with his wife and 8 year-old child are living off his wife’s salary; the kindness of family and friends; and a Home Equity Line of Credit. Gary has applied for Social Security Disability but while awaiting a decision the family continue to fall further and further into debt. A Go-Fund-Me site has been established where you can help by donating whatever you can. Thank you for your generosity.
