Gary Fulp Radu was called Home yesterday June 27, 2020. Just shy of his 67th birthday, Gary had a presence like no other. He will be missed and remembered by many. His kindness, generosity, hard and dedicated work ethic (where many of his closest friends were made), and love of "his girls" are what memories, I am sure will be treasured most.
My name is Debi Calkin. I have started my very first and hopefully last Go Fund Me campaign. I felt compelled to do so as I watch Christie and her girls suffer at this most difficult of times. I have known Gary and Christie for over 25 years now. First as Jessica's preschool teacheer and now a lifelong friend. The love that Gary showed my son Michael, is another reason I am moved to do this.
I believe that Gary, through no fault of his own, lost the one thing that I know he wanted more than anything else. He wanted to be there financially for his family. He wanted the work that he had done to secure their futures. Anyone who knows Gary, knows this.
I don't know how many of you are aware that Gary, one of the hardest workers I have ever known, left this world with no resources. No resources to pay for his burial expenses, significant debt, and a wife and grandchildren who have lived frugally on Gary's social security for many years now. Christie, remarried Gary 2 years ago to care for him as his health deteriorated. Christie and Gary have been raising their two grandchildren for 8 years now. You can imagine the toll this has taken on their family.
I decided, with permission of Gary's daughters, to create this campaign to begin to alleviate the serious situation Gary's family, especially his wife and grandchildren are in. This fundraiser needs our prompt attention. Time is of the essence.
