Gary R. Blair - Lets go somewhere!

Hey All - My dad, Gary Blair, has been through hell and back during the past several months.
In October he was tired of always feeling tired. He made an appointment with his cardiologist. The cardiologist put my dad on a nitroglycerin based medication. My dad was not feeling better; in fact, he felt worse with his biggest complaint being bad headaches cause by the medication.
The stress test went great but the cardiologist decided to do a cardiac cath just to be safe. My dad had 2 stents placed during the cath. Due to the stents, he was placed on blood thinners.
2 weeks after the cardiac cath my dad was not feeling better. His headaches were worse and he was no longer taking the nitro based medication.
My dad went to an urgent care because the headaches were so bad. Urgent care sent him to the hospital where imaging was completed. My dad was given the horrible news that he has Glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer. My dad saw a neurologist 2 days later; discussed and agreed to surgery. The surgery had to be scheduled in a specific time frame due to the aggressive nature of the cancer and the high-risk of being on blood thinners before surgery. The blood thinners could not be stopped due to the stents placed 2 weeks earlier.
5 days after finding out about the brain cancer, my dad was having severe abdominal pain. He went to the ER and found out he had perforated intestines and needed emergency surgery. My dad was worried about emergency surgery when he had scheduled his brain surgery further out due to the blood thinners. The perforated intestines were imminently life threatening and he would not make it to the brain surgery date without abdominal surgery.
My dad had 2 abdominal surgeries on 11/19/19 & 11/20/19.
1 week later, on 11/26/19, my dad underwent brain surgery to remove most of the cancerous tumor.
He had a stroke during surgery.
2 months of physical rehab followed. My dad was discharged from the hospital on 1/24/2020.
My dad is now wheelchair bound. His left side does not move (very difficult for a lefty).
So in 2 weeks my dad had stents placed, 2 abdominal surgeries, brain tumor resection, and a stroke. He pushed through all of it with a great attitude.
Now he is home. He cannot get into a vehicle to go somewhere. He has been in the house for over a month. He is missing appointments with doctors because arranging rides with short notice of appointments just doesn't happen. His spirits wax and wane, but what he really would like to do is get in the car and go somewhere. Anywhere.
Thank you for taking the time to read his story. My father was working full time before all of this happened. He was fully independent. Now he can barely do anything on his own.
I am looking to raise money to purchase him a used wheelchair accessible vehicle. His time is limited and we would like his last months to be enjoyable.
Take care,
Megan Clayton
