Gary Newman is a local legend who loves his Football. Forest born and bred, Gary has been married to Sammy for twenty years and they have two beautiful children, Hayley who is 17 and Aaron who is 15. Unfortunately Gary was diagnosed with brain cancer on the 11th January, being told that sadly there is no cure and that time is of the essence. I have set up the fundraiser as Gary and Sammy are family friends who I have known for over 20 years and our sons have played youth football together since they were 4 years old.

Gary is an avid Cinderford Town supporter and has also run the line for his sons football teams, Cinderford Town and Mitcheldean throughout their youth matches. He wanted the opportunity to watch his son play football one last time so a football match including these teams has been put together for Thursday 19th February and myself and Natalie Matthews saw it as an opportunity to raise funds for the family having been friends for a long period of time. The support for this event has been overwhelming and those who are unable to attend has asked to donate, hence the creation of this page.

Appallingly, Gary's terminal part of his life insurance does not cover his cancer and we are hoping to raise funds to support this beautiful family at the most difficult and emotional time in their lives. The funds raised will support the family whilst Gary is having intense treatment at hospital, allow them to concentrate on their valuable time with him and support with any unforeseen expected outgoings. Gary is currently spending time in Cheltenham Hospital as he recently suffered a stroke. Sammy is by his side so the funds will be used to support them at this very tough time.

Any contribution, no matter the size, will help the family when they need it most. All contributions will be transferred to myself and all funds will be given to Gary and Sammy and they are happy for the transfer wo work like this. Thank you for help.
