Gary passed away on Saturday, July 4th.  He requested that in lieu of flowers, he would like donations to continue to fund the Gary L. Nelson Scholarship Endowment Fund.  This fund provides two scholarships annually to graduating students of James Madison Memorial High School.  One scholarship will be awarded to a student who is an English language learner and the other to a student who has learning challenges as defined by MMSD.  The scholarships go toward their secondary education.  Gary retired from James Madison Memorial High School in 1999.  He was delighted to set up this permanent endowment funding in 2014

Prior to 2018, Gary spent many years writing his own  personal biography.  It is a recollection of stories from his life of learning and teaching.  Funds will also go towards the publication of his book “It All Adds Up."
