Rock on Gary McHone
As you know, a beautiful soul was taken from us far too soon. Despite Gary's pursuit of a healthy lifestyle, the valiant efforts of his skilled coworkers, and the prayers of countless friends and loved ones, our hero was lost to us without warning. As with all heroes, he had seemed indestructible, leaving us reeling with shock at the sudden loss of such a kindhearted human being. We are still trying to process this tragic news.
Gary leaves behind his devoted wife of 37 years, Janice; their beloved children, Chelsea and Chad and son-in-law, David; cherished siblings Wayne and Terry; and many other family members and friends. His passion for his family, music, the environment and animals, in particular his dog, Patch, was palpable. Gary is so very deeply missed and forever in our hearts.
Gary's personal mission to put a smile on the face of every person he met earned him the nickname “Mr. Sunshine”. He was remarkably successful at achieving that goal; it's doubtful that even Gary realized the many lives that he touched. He was an amazing husband, father, brother, son, uncle, friend ... human. Your outpouring of love and support has shown us how truly special he was to everyone who knew him.
Many wonderful people have been asking how they can help. We set up this page to assist the family with the many expenses associated with Gary's unexpected passing. If you can help, please do. Anything you can give will be very much appreciated. If you can't, that's fine, we understand that times are hard. In either case, please leave a memory and please join us in a Celebration of Gary's Life as we reminisce on the good times. It will be held on Sunday, March 12th, from noon to 3:00 at Aptos Village Park, 100 Aptos Creek Drive, Aptos.
Should donations exceed related expenses, any remaining proceeds will be donated to an animal rights charity in honor of Gary's compassion for animals.
