We are hoping to raise money to assist our mother and family during this time. As medical costs, bills, a mortgage, and living expenses begin to add up, we want to give our mother a resource and support system. With my father unable to work she is the only source of income they have, and while it is helpful it will not be enough long term. We are grateful for any donations, prayers, and support during this time. Thank you for the bottom of our hearts!

On March 10th, 2017 our husband and father suffered a rare aneurysm rupture at home.
That night he was miraculously able to call his oldest son to ask for help. After the paramedics arrived he was transported to a local hospital where they discovered a subarachnoid hemorrhage. He was then immediately transferred again to a larger hospital in Provo, and began further imaging and tests.
While at the hospital in Provo it was discovered that he had a fusiform aneurysm directly under is brain stem on one of his vertebral arteries. He also had a bleed in his frontal lobe. The neurosurgeons at that hospital believed it was too complex to be taken care of in that facility, and suggested transfer to the University of Utah Hospital. Gary was taken via helicopter to attempt to save his life.
Gary was immediately taken into surgery, and his family was made aware of the seriousness of this rupture. Gary survived surgery and remained in the neurological ICU for two weeks, and went through various ups and downs along the way. Recently he was able to transfer out of the ICU and begin the long journey of neurological rehabilitation.

Gary is the rock of our family, and the last few weeks have been the absolute hardest of our lives. He is the most gentle and kind man, and so easily makes friends with everyone. Gary is a radiation therapist that works with cancer patients. He has been a member of Be The Match for decades, and recently donated his bone marrow to save the life of a four year old girl. We cannot say enough positive things about him. We love him more than anything in this world. He does not deserve what happened to him, and we are so proud of how hard he has been fighting. We know he will continue to improve.
