
Gary Malara Memorial Fund
Gary Gene Malara was called home by the Lord on May 15th 2021. Gary was born May 30th 1946 in Denver, Colorado to Mathew & Rose (DiPace) Malara. He attended Wheatridge High school and graduated from Mount Carmel High School in 1964.
Gary is our rock, our protector, husband, “Booger,” friend, Dad, Daddy, Pops, Papa and our Hero.
He took pride in his country and his service in the U.S. Army. He served our Country in the Vietnam war. He served honorably as a Medic. Gary was incredibly proud to be selected for the Honor Flight in 2017.
Gary married the love of his life, Janet May, on December 2, 1972.
Gary was a friend to all. He was always there to help everyone! Gary’s family was the most important thing to him and he was so proud of his 7 grandchildren.
Gary was truly a jack of all trades. He was a Denver police officer, an entrepreneur in lighting, shoe repair & the food industries. He made magnificent cakes for birthdays, weddings and other occasions. His last job was building manager of the Fort Collins Masonic Temple. He took great pride in caring for the historic building. Gary did whatever was needed to provide for his family and would make any sacrifice for them.
Gary loved to hunt, fish and enjoy the outdoors. He was a connoisseur of decent scotch and cheap cigars! He was an avid baker. His breads, cakes, cookies and other baked goods were legendary!
Gary loved his loyal pup Thor and they were inseparable buddies.
Gary’s Catholic faith was pure and unwavering, he was a parishioner of Saint Joseph’s Church since his arrival in Fort Collins in 1974.
He was a dedicated member of Fidelity Lodge 192 Masons AF&AM and Collins Chapter 26 Order of the Eastern Star and the Jobs Daughters were also very close to his heart.
Gary was one-of-a-kind he was known for his sense of humor, his generosity & loving personality.
He is survived by his Wife Janet, and four children and their families. Dave (Sara), Lori (Shane), Kenny (Robin) & Christy (Melissa & her son Chris), his Brother Ron (Linda), and seven grandchildren; Kylee, Koby, Sam, Kayla, Wyatt, Karter & Jack. Gary loved his family, they were his greatest blessing, his apple of his eye.
He is preceded in death by his parents Matthew & Rose Malara and many aunts, uncles, cousins and loved ones.
