Gary Huerta

Hi friends and family, this is Jayla, Gary Huerta’s daughter. Dad was in a near-fatal Hit and Run accident on his motorcycle on January 21 in San Jose, CA. Since then, he has been confined to a hospital bed in a coma. We are waiting for him to wake up from this nightmare, but the Doctors are unclear as to what type of life Dad is going to have when or if he does wake up. I am asking all of our friends and family for their prayers. Dad’s injuries range from a diffuse brain damage, to collapsed lungs, multiple face fractures, a broken arm, and the list goes on. He had a piece of his skull removed to help with brain swelling, the Doctors are certain he will have permanent brain damage. He's currently on a breathing tube and will soon need a tracheotomy to help him breathe on his own and to insert a feeding tube. It is devastating to see him like this. For those of you that know him, you know he is a ball of light. My Dad is the funniest guy I know, he lives his life to the fullest and always wants to put a smile on your face. I'm not sure what the future holds but I know that his life is full of people that love him. My Dad and I live out here in California, but all his family is on the East Coast. My Aunt’s, Debbie and Cyndi, are here or coming soon to visit and support him. My Grandmother (his mother, Angela) also lives on the East coast and suffers with dementia, so we are trying to support her and handle this as delicately as we can through this ordeal after losing our Grandpa a few years ago.

I had no choice than to start this GoFundMe because medical bills are already piling up as we prepare to support my Dad through this journey. This is a challenge. I have my own family and responsibilities, and now more bills are starting to pile up. I’ve been doing a lot of driving back and forth to the hospital and missing work. There is a lot we don’t know, but Dad’s medical journey is just beginning. We are humbly asking our friends and family for their support with this effort and thank you in advance. I will do my best to faithfully keep everyone up to date on his journey and progress right here. God bless, and thank you, we love you all.
