Gary Greeson ~ Brain Cancer Fund

Donation protected

My name is Lauren and I am creating this fundraiser for my father, Gary Greeson! Before I go into his story, I want to tell you a little bit about him. He is a husband, father, brother, grandfather (Papa G), and uncle. Many people who he has worked alongside at Lowes' call him G Man (if you know you know lol). He's the definition of selfless. He has a servants heart and loves to help others in every capacity. He will always go the extra mile to help out a co-worker, spouse or friend in need. It's just who he is to his core. He's loyal, empathetic, and and nurturing. He's the real deal. Which is another big reason I wanted to create this fundraiser for him because he has always gone above and beyond for not only myself, but so many others and I want him to know how appreciated and loved he is!

Gary was diagnosed with lung cancer in August 2020. Shortly after having doing chemotherapy & radiation treatments, they removed his left lung. The lung cancer actually began to spread to his vocal cords, so the surgeons scrapped the vocal cords so none would continue to spread. As they removed that growth, his vocal cord was slightly scrapped. This has made changes in his voice, hoarseness and sometimes coughing spells.

After the lung removal surgery, his MRI indicated he was cancer free. However, a few months later, my mother and I noticed he was not acting like himself. His symptoms were TOO noticeable to the point it was scary. The first thing we noticed was he had a sudden change in his vision / blurriness a few weeks after his surgery. I then saw more symptoms that didn’t set well with me. His instability in walking, problems with coordination, weakness in legs, frequent headaches, sleepiness, personality changes - he was not himself, & there were days where the only words I could get out of him were. “I don’t know”, “I guess” and Yes/No. It was absolutely terrifying to see this behavior. Fast forward to his follow up appointment with his oncologist -  the cancer had metastasized & moved to the brain and it grew and spread fast. One larger tumor and one small

non-cancerous lesion. The brain edema (swelling) was the main reason he was experiencing such intense in-your-face symptoms.

He completed one huge radiation treatment through the Cleveland Clinic for the large tumor & it was "zapped" ( doctors words ) and killed. The tumor could not be removed surgically because of where it is located in the brain. At that time - we recognized significant growth in his ability to walk, there was no more imbalance issues and he was walking around normal! He was energetic and more like himself. Even on his lawn mower (his favorite place LOL). After that radiation treatment, he had a follow-up MRI scheduled within 6-weeks. Within those 5 weeks, we were amazed at how well he was doing. The week of his MRI, he began having imbalance issues and our hearts became discouraged because it looked almost identical to how he was responding during the first undetected tumor. The MRI indicated that the small non-cancerous lesion grew in size & shape and is now cancerous.

That following week, he had a radiation treatment scheduled and it was almost the same level/energy as the first huge radiation treatment. He is currently on steroids' everyday for the edema (swelling on the brain), however is not finding any sense of relief in the swelling due to the steroids. He has a follow-up MRI scheduled this month (August 20) and a follow-up with the oncologist & neurosurgeon to discuss in-depth details as they will be using different equipment for better quality images/equipment to detect more of what is going on and the activity of the tumor. We are hoping for good news and results and possible treatments that can be done.

My entire point in creating this GoFundMe is to help with medical expenses that are sky rocketing and creating incredible amounts of stress of our family but especially my father and my mother. Each visit, treatment, appointment, medication.... it all adds up significantly and quickly. My parents found out shortly after he was diagnosed with brain cancer and unable to work, his insurance changed. It leaves us in awe as we struggle to figure out to pay these bills and have food on the table, too. I have seen him and my mother struggle each month with bills upon bills and medical bills piling up and it breaks my heart. ANYTHING will help. I have set the “goal” of this fundraiser to $30,000 even though medical expenses are way beyond that, but at this rate, literally anything will help.

You can pay through GoFundMe or through iPhone money transfer applications listed below. Thank you so much in advance. Not only do I appreciate it, but my Deddy most definitely does. Lets show him how LOVED he is! I pray God will provide abundantly.
