Hi my name is Gabriella, I've made this page to help a close family friend Gary who has unfortunately been diagnosed with stage 2 tongue cancer.

Gary went to the dentist for a routine check up where the dentist found cause for concern and referred him to the hospital for further investigative tests. The hospital took a biopsy from his tongue which came back as stage 2 tongue cancer.

Gary is now going to have to undergo a life changing 10-12 hour surgery in May to have a partial tongue removal, skin graft to rebuild the tongue and also a neck dissection to remove lymph nodes. He will be in ICU for 3 days and then stepped down to a ward for a 2 week admission where he will have a tracheostomy and will need to be tube fed for a few weeks post op as well as requiring speech therapy and dietician intervention. Gary is a self employed joiner who has always worked hard to provide for his family, understandably due to the operation and rehabilitation we don't know how long he will be unable to work.

I don't want Gary or his family to have to worry about finances/bills whilst going through this awful time so I have made this page to lessen the financial stress whilst Gary is unable to work.
