My dad Gary has been diagnosed with stage 3 melanoma (skin cancer) and needs your help to cover housing costs.
After 8 weeks of tests and doctors appointments, we received news on May 21st dad has skin cancer.
Getting a diagnosis can be a lengthy process and the last month and-a-half has meant dad hasn't been able to attend work as normal.
This has lead to him falling behind on his rent and bills for his
- housing costs (rent, bills)
- basic amenities such as food, travel (to and from hospital appointments)
At the moment Dad has been signed off work and has had to abandon his MA as he will not qualify for housing with universal credit as a full-time student.
These are the exact costs that we need your help to cover:
- May 31st - £767 - overdue rent from the month of May or he could potentially risk becoming homeless.
- June 19th - £767 - payment for his housing for the month of June (until July 19th)
- July 19th - £767 - the next payment for his housing for the month July (until August 19th)
This GoFundMe seems like a possible option whilst we arrange a solid financial solution - such as a monthly credit payment - and further understand the next steps for dads treatment.
We know it is a hard time for everybody, and want to express our deep gratitude in advance for your time, energy and effort.
As you can appreciate it has been difficult for him to speak to all to his friends individually regarding this recent diagnosis. Moving forward he is beginning to focus on his upcoming treatment and is deeply grateful for all of your support.
Extra info:
We are trying to get the universal credit / sick payments set up for August 2025, all being well. As some of you may know, Universal Credit can take up to 8 weeks to come through.
Any other suggestions about housing support initiatives or charities are warmly welcomed.
