Gary Cobain, Kurt Cobain's paternal uncle, is in urgent need of help. His trailer, featured in Nirvana's Sliver, is falling apart and he needs help to survive the Winter.

As shocking as this may sound, it's not uncommon for relatives of celebrities to be forgotten about or even completely left out of proceedings, particularly if the death was unexpected and/or occured so early on in the celebrity's life.

Given to him by his late father, Leland Cobain, Gary's trailer is a historic place. His nephew, Kurt Cobain, often spent a lot of time there as a child as it was his grandparents' house.

Gary had lots of plans for what he wanted to do with the trailer but sadly, due to financial difficulties, didn't manage to. He's now in a position where basic amenities are lacking: The hot water heater has been broken for months, meaning Gary has had to rely on "hose water" as he calls it. It's going to cost $1,500 to replace the heater and I don't believe this figure includes labour.

Gary's lot rent has also been increased so he's having to pay extra. He's on a fixed income, meaning it's been very difficult for him to save money. He doesn't have transportation either as he had to return the last truck he loaned so has to walk 3 miles into town. At the age of 70 years old, he is rarely able to make this journey, meaning he's now effectively isolated too. It would be great to be able to give him his mobility and independence back as well as restore his home to a basic standard of living.

Gary doesn't have much. He keeps all his Kurt memorabilia as he's always loved his nephew deeply. Like his late father Leland, Kurt's paternal grandad, the home means a lot to him so he wouldn't want to lose it and wants to be able to maintain it's upkeep once repaired.
