Gary Blair's Transplant Recovery

Donation protected
Gary Blair was diagnosed with Idopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis in April of 2017, at the age of 42.  Idopathic Pulonary Fibrosis is a disease that causes the deep tissue of the lungs to become thick and stiff, eventually  scarring the tissue. The scarring of the lung tissue makes it difficult for the lungs to move oxygen throughout the body;  as well as vital places, like the heart and brain.
The word Idopathic in Idopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis means that the doctors are unsure of the cause; it can be anything from environmental hazards to genetics. In Gary's case, the doctors think it may have something to do with his genes, seeing that his mother had passed away from disease at the age of 37.
Unfortnately, there is no cure for Pulmonary Fibrosis. The life expectancy for people with this disease is only about 3 years after the initial diagnosis. This leaves the patients diagnosed with one option, a lung transplant. Right now, Gary has less that 50% lung capacity. He is no longer able to do the things he once did with ease, simple every day tasks are becoming increasingly difficult for him to accomplish.

My name is Cynthia Blair, I am starting this fund to help my dad and my family with the expenses that come with this disease. By donating, you will be helping the Blair family with the expenses of: going out of town,  mutliple times a month, for testing and doctors appointments, medical bills, and saving up for a lung transplant.
His journey with I.P.F. got off to a rocky start and help of any kind would be appricaited more than anyone knows. It has been a rough and emotional past few months for our family, but with the support of others, we have been making it through.  No matter what happens, we remind each other that better times are on their way.

As stated in the updates, Gary had a lung biposy that went wrong. He was put on a ventilator and eventually and ECMO. After fighting for his life for two weeks, he revieved his miracle! Originally we statred this campain to save up for the lung transplant but now that it has happended, my father is having to live away from home for recovery. With my mother and my father out of work, we are relying on the donations of others.

Thank you for your love and support.
