UPDATE: All additional donations will be put toward follow-up care and treatment. There will be many expenses after returning home in the day-to-day treatment, and multiple follow-up trips to Mexico! I have started this page on behalf of my dad, Gary Benner. He has been struggling with health issues for over 15 years. Despite significant pain, neurological issues, and physical deterioration, my dad has worked full time to provide for his family and serve others through his carpentry skills. After misdiagnoses, questions and testing, it was discovered that he has chronic Lyme disease along with several co-infections. The disease and co-infections have now progressed to a point where he is experiencing partial paralysis in addition to his other symptoms. The most recent flareup (September 2025) left him completely unable to walk or even lift a glass of water to his mouth. This has obviously left him unable to work as well. My parents have tried every treatment they could find locally, and due to the severity of his condition, it was recommended that he recieve intense inpatient

treatment from a Lyme specialist facility in either Arizona or Mexico.

I know he cannot continue like this for much longer before it all claims every aspect of his life. Treatment for his condition will be 100% out of pocket. He will need to be in treatment about 6-12 weeks, potentially longer. It has been so difficult for our family to watch our dad deteriorate. However, I am determined to do whatever I can to raise the support needed so he can have his health back, and we can have our dad back. My goal is to raise $80,000 to cover the majority of treatment costs so that my dad can recieve the treatment he needs without worrying about an overwhelming medical bill. All gifts, no matter how big or small, mean the world to our family. We are so grateful to have family, friends, and a community that supports us on this journey.
