You may or may not know that Gary suffered a Subarachnoid brain hemorrhage on New Year’s Eve. The injury severity is measured on a scale of 1 to 5. One, being a small bleed with little potential for brain damage. Five being the equivalent to a gunshot to the head without a bullet wound. That's how it was explained to us that first night in the hospital.
Gary’s injury was rated a FIVE! Day 1 he was given a slim chance of surviving at all. Miracle to say the least, that I am able to write this statement at all.
It has been a long road . . . Gary is currently wheelchair bound and requires two people to transfer him and assist him with his therapies. This is a 24/7 responsibility.
The support of family and friends have made it possible for us to keep Gary’s rehab moving forward and we are hopeful that each day will bring additional progress and healing.
The medical bills have piled up and insurance will only cover certain things.
Because of the unknown future, there are things that will need to be purchased to help Gary get through everyday life and to get him to outpatient therapy (ex: medical supplies, home health care, outside ramp, possibly a handicap accessible vehicle, etc.) things insurance won't cover.
Gary and his family thank the community from the bottom of their hearts for the continuous outpouring love, prayers, cards and words of comfort that they have received from everyone through this tough ordeal. The show of support has been overwhelming. Again thank you SO much!!
