Garry's Medical Expenses
Donation protected

Garry Elmitt, athlete extraordinaire, frequent Ironman competitor, marathoner, cyclist and swimmer, is now facing a race for his life. He has been diagnosed with cancer and in the coming weeks will be undergoing radiation therapy with a chaser of chemotherapy.
Garry lives in Austin, Texas and only 80% of the cost of his treatments and medical needs will be covered by his medical plan. We are reaching out for help to cover the shortfall in coverage and to help support him during his recovery. Any donation you can make is SO appreciated. We want Garry to thrive and feel all the love and support he needs to get him through this bump in the road towards being cancer-free.
I am Christine, Garry's friend and ex-wife, organizing this campaign. Garry is the last person I could have imagined being diagnosed with cancer given the lack of family history and his healthy lifestyle and his amazing fitness level. I know he has the grit that it takes to meet this challenge and if you are his friend you'll know it too! He is however short on funds to pay for the treatment he needs so I'm hopeful he can count on your generosity to help.
While you're here have a look at some of his racing career

Escape from Alcatraz
I remember even before Garry started doing triathlons, we were in San Francisco and he said something to the effect of he thought it was very possible to swim away from Alcatraz
He was right. Some years later the Escape From Alcatraz Race was born.

When he's not swimming, biking or running he's pretty cute too
