For those of you who personally know Garrett, you know he would go above and beyond for those he cares about. He is authentic, and genuine, and awkward. He is a fantastic friend and coworker to all he meets. He's also extremely passionate about his hobbies, which includes riding his bikes and BMX.
Unfortunately, on Saturday night Garrett had a really bad fall from his bike at the skate park downtown. On a jump gone wrong, he fell 15 feet from the air onto cement. We are so thankful he was wearing his helmet, as always. However, he was unconscious for hours, has facial lacerations, and broke his orbital bone and collarbone. Thankfully neck and spine are okay. Things could have gone so differently, but Garrett was so so lucky and thankfully was rushed to the ICU at the UofL hospital quickly. We are grateful he is awake, alert, and talking at the time of this post.
He has undergone CT scans to ensure there is no long term brain damage, internal bleeding, or swelling. He will be getting surgery for his collarbone later this week. Most importantly, Garrett is alive and as well as he can be after such a fall. While he has health insurance, medical bills are expected to pile their way. The current estimation is $3500.
The last thing we want Garrett and his family to worry about are medical bills. He is lucky to be alive; lucky there were no brain or spinal injuries. SO, with that being said: we are reaching out to Garrett's support system - to his friends, his coworkers, friends of friends who have heard us tease him - to reach out and show his family their support through his recovery. Any amount is helpful. Any amount will help make a difference. All donations will go directly toward any medical bill and expense.

If you cannot afford to financially support, the least we ask of you is to share.
Either way, we thank you for your support - for going above and beyond the way Garrett does for everyone else, no questions asked.
