Garret Collins

Hey, my name is Kari and I’m hoping to raise funds to help Garret Collins and his family for medical expenses incurred in his continuing fight against Ewing’s Sarcoma. I went to school with Garret’s mom Valerie. They aren’t the type to ask for help but here’s what’s going on…..

 

He was diagnosed with an aggressive childhood cancer known as Ewing’s Sarcoma in August 2019 in his pelvis. At the time of diagnosis the cancer was already metastatic. They went for treatment from August 2019-May 2020 at St. John's in Springfield and St. Louis Children's Hospital. Then in July 2020 he started a clinical trial in Los Angeles. They traveled there every 3 months until April 2021 when scans revealed relapse to his lung in 2 spots and a releapse to his skull. Relapse treatment started in April 2021, August scans showed 1 spot on lung and skull were gone, but there was still one area left on his lung. Surgical excision was performed in September 2021 and the lung tumor was removed with clear margins! Due to the aggressive nature of this cancer the scans on January 7th showed the lung tumor is already growing back. Garret and his family have opted for a clinical trial and hoping this is the answer they’re looking for this time! They will have to go out of state to Ohio and stay for weeks on end for treatments and checkups. This will not only incur a financial burden but will result in missed work etc.

 

This kid always has a smile on his face. He loves to goof around and have a good time. His younger sister clearly adores her big brother. His parents have had a positive attitude through it all and they need to continue focusing on helping him heal. They’re an amazing family! Lets see what we can do to help them so they can focus on Garret’s healing!
