This weekend my nephew Garrett Bergen was doing what he loves most - riding dirt bikes in the Utah mountains. His bike stalled during a routine jump, resulting in a crash that broke his spine and fractured his hips. He was life flighted to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center where he underwent emergency surgery to repair his spinal column. Previous to surgery he could not feel his legs or feet, and while we don’t know what the long term prospects are for Garrett, we do know that he is going to endure a difficult recovery which will include long-term hospitalization and intensive rehabilitation.
Garrett's insurance will not come close to covering all of his expenses and his career in structural drilling is on hold indefinitely. We are asking friends and loved ones to please consider donating even a small amount to help him courageously face the challenges that await him. Your support would not only mean so much financially, but will provide him with an emotional lift as he begins this new chapter in his life.
Thank you so much for whatever help you can give. The funds will go to my sister, Jennifer Bergen, as she will be managing the bills and costs associated with his rehabilitation.
