Dearest Family & Friends, Near and Far,
As some of you know, my youngest sister, Aisha and her partner, Garret have been through an unexpected and harrowing journey over the past few months with their now one-year old daughter, Yuri.
After about a week of being admitted to the hospital for low sodium levels, Yuri suffered cardiac arrest on November 16th. She was 10 months old. She was put on life support soon after that and no one had answers to why this could happen to what we thought was such a healthy little girl.
We all, as a family, jumped into action, visiting the hospital daily and bringing lots of food and prayer. Of course we were doing what needed to be done, while also having that fear in the back of our minds that we would receive another bad phone call from Aisha and Garrett at any moment. Watching them go through this was truly inspiring. They remained brave, kind and hopeful throughout. And Yuri FOUGHT.
Miraculously, after 51 days at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Yuri was finally released from the hospital to continue her healing at home.
As a family, we cannot be grateful enough that our girl is home, in her parents arms, and truly making a full recovery.
Because Aisha and Garret couldn’t leave the hospital, neither of them were able to work during that nearly two months. Yuri saw multiple doctors daily; some were in-network with their insurance, but many were not. They’ve now recieved their hospital bills, and friends, it’s astronomical.
If you can find it in your hearts and wallets, please donate to this beautiful little family. After such a trying time, the last thing we want them to be thinking about is covering medical bills while trying to make up their lost ends of daily expenses. Garret and Aisha are also now administering Yuri’s daily medications and dealing with the schedule of her feeding tube.
Any amount helps. Thank you so much for your love and consideration ❤️

P.S.- It’s Yuri’s 1st birthday today!
