My name is Munyaradzi Mapanzure, the brother to Garry. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the tragic loss of Garikai Munashe Mapanzure, affectionately known as Garry Mapanzure, who left us in a devastating car accident on Friday, October 13, 2023.

Garry was a treasure to our nation, an exceptional talent who shone internationally with his distinctive style. He became an icon through his futuristic clothing brand, African Sushi wear, and captivated many with his hit song, "Wapunza." His remarkable talents gained global acclaim when he was selected for the EMPAWA Africa program by Mr. Eazi.

A pride of Masvingo, Garry was a radiant and warm-hearted individual, astonishingly humble and welcoming. His spirit lives on in the unforgettable memories and the art he shared, such as his songs "Pindirai" and "Winner," which resonated with love and encouragement.

We were blessed to have witnessed the brilliance of Garry Mapanzure, as an artist, and experienced his friendship. His meaningful words and music touched our hearts deeply, leaving us with cherished moments of greatness to hold onto.
