Garett's Heart Transplant Journey

Hi, I'm Holly Peterson, a friend of Garett and Amy Stapp organizing this fundraiser.

Here is a message from Amy:

My husband, Garett, was diagnosed with a very rare heart condition called Giant Cell Myocarditis in mid-July and received a heart transplant on August 4th. There are many wildly overwhelming parts to this experience; one is the onslaught of expenses. Garett must live within 70 miles of UCLA for 3-6 months, depending on how things go. We have good insurance and support from our family and still are overwhelmed. Financial expenses include temporary relocation/lodging, travel, out-of-pocket medical and pharmaceutical, loss of income, and full-time childcare while I am Garett's primary caretaker. Many of you have asked how to be on our support and care team, and this is one way. We anticipate at least $30,000 of uncovered expenses between now and the end of the year. This is a humbling and vulnerable experience. Meaningful connection and community have been a lifeline. Thank you for the prayers, kind words, and love.
