Help Garbage's Final Days Be Comfortable

A special cat needs some critical care during her last days. If you have the means, however small, to contribute, it will go a long way! That special cat is Garbage, and here is her story.

(Garbage looking as messy and scraggly as possible, living up to her name)

Garbage (affectionately named for her opposite-of-garbage nature and unmatched beauty) has been living on the streets of east Toronto for an unidentifiable amount of time but made her debut at the DCT house in early 2020 during peak pandemic/quarantine. She was underweight, extremely timid, scared, and borderline feral???? But most notably, very sweet when given a chance to be.

(Garbage in my back yard where I found her in March 2020.)

DCT has given her this chance every day for the past two and a half years by feeding her good food, building her a cat house for the winter, and being very patient. Garbage had clear signs of neglect and possibly abuse and went from not trusting anyone to being the sweetest cat on the block thanks to this care and patience.

(Garbage in 2020 learning to trust people. She was so timid, and it took years of every day trust work to get to where we are now. She had been hurt by people in the past and wasn't used to experiencing kindness.)

Garbage has been to the vet and was told she is sick and does not have much time left to live. She was given antibiotics six months ago to keep her holding on, and she has powered through all this time like a real champ!

(Garbage loves cuddling, which, based on how she would scratch and hiss if you looked at her, is something I never thought she would enjoy.)

Unfortunately, she has had another flare-up this weekend and a follow-up vet visit. It looks like she is heading into her final kitty chapter. The goal is to keep her comfortable at home on antibiotics, surrounded by her favourite people and things.

(Garbage meeting Courtney Gilmour for the first time when she was still an outdoor street cat)

We are raising money for treating her infection, keeping her comfortable, the vet bills coming along with that, and finally, for putting her down. Garbage has made a huge impact on everyone around her and kept Dan and friends company during some really tough times, and in return, we want to send her off with the love she deserves.

Garbage's nose has returned to being very infected, and the vet bills for antibiotics and tests are very expensive. Any donation is greatly appreciated and will go right to Garbage! (Not in the garbage)
